Not all aesthetic treatments are invasive. If you’re concerned about lasers or needles, chemical peels can be an ideal option for renewing your skin! Our peels at Holden Timeless Beauty are specially formulated to improve tone, texture, and clarity. We can also help you supplement your peel results with microneedling or SylfirmX RF microneedling treatments. If you struggle with hyperpigmentation, get in touch with one of our California offices to learn more today.
What Are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels are facial treatments made of different nutrients and acids. The most common are glycolic peels, but there are also trichloroacetic, lactic, carbolic, and salicylic peels. These components are safe and act as exfoliating agents, ridding your skin of dead cells and debris.
How Do Chemical Peels Work?
A typical chemical peel treatment takes only 30 minutes to perform. During this time, the peel solution will be applied to your skin and allowed to exfoliate the topmost layer. Some mild stinging may be experienced, but the treatment is generally well-tolerated.
Results of Chemical Peels
Your skin will appear more gold/bronzed than usual as the formulation is slightly tinted. After your treatment, a take-home kit will be provided for you to care for your skin. Typically peeling begins on the third day, starting around the mouth and then peeling outward. Days 3, 4, and 5 are the typical days of peeling. By day six, most of the exfoliation will subside. By day seven, you will enjoy fresh, healthy skin!
To prevent damage and aging of the skin, suggested maintenance treatment peels are once every three months. If you are treating a certain condition such as melasma or acne, a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart may be recommended to achieve the most dramatic outcome.
